Athletes of Shantiniketan Indian School strived for distinction in the 20th Annual Sports Day held at Al Wakrah Sport Club Stadium. The day witnessed some exciting moments and breathtaking finishes as more than 500 students competed for top honours amidst thrills, shrills and cheers.
Chief Guest – Mr. Shahnas Noorudeen, Managing Committee Member of SIS, declared the meet open.
The event started with a rhythmic colourful aerobic drill by the intermediate girls and the synchronised parade by Scouts and Guides. The March Past Team was led by the Sports Captain – Thejas Vinay, and the respective House Captains. The School Head boy Mr. Suresh Smart, welcomed the gathering followed by the pledge.
Yellow House emerged as Champions. Razan Eltiyab (Sub Junior Girls), RiFaz Muhammed (Sub-Junior Boys), Reel Abdul Rahman (Junior Girls), Hamdan Yoosuf (Junior Boys), Juweria Khan (Intermediate Girls), Md. Rafi (Intermediate Boys), Sadia Anwar (Pre-Senior Girls), Akil Ahmed (Pre-Senior Boys), Alyaa Mubarak (Senior Girls) and Hani Sk (Senior Boys) won the honours for individual champions in their respective categories.
Students competed with each other and also showed a high sense of sportsmanship and individual brilliance. Principal, Dr. Subhash Nair, congratulated the outstanding sportsman spirit displayed by the students, Parents and teachers who participated to make this event highly successful.
