November 3, 2024:
To meet the growing demand for school admissions within the Indian expatriate community, the Ministry of Education has selected Shantiniketan Indian School to initiate afternoon shift classes. This initiative aims to support students who were previously unable to secure admission due to limited capacity in morning sessions. Shantiniketan Indian School, along with other Indian schools, has embraced this project voluntarily, underscoring their commitment to making education accessible for all eligible students.
The afternoon shift at SIS represents a strategic effort to optimize available resources, allowing the school to accommodate more students. This additional time slot is especially beneficial for families who struggled to find spots in the existing morning programs, as it aligns with the standard curriculum and quality standards upheld during the morning sessions.
To ensure a smooth transition, SIS held an orientation program for parents at the start of the new academic year. The session covered the structure, guidelines, and expectations for the afternoon shift. During the orientation, Najeeba, Fathima Rizna, and Faheema discussed academic discipline, assessment structures, and the role of parents, respectively, with a packed audience of parents.
The launch of the afternoon shift at Shantiniketan Indian School is a significant step in expanding educational access within the expatriate community. With proactive communication, a comprehensive curriculum plan, and close supervision, SIS addresses parental concerns and reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality education. This initiative highlights the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Education and Indian schools in Qatar to ensure that no student is left behind due to capacity constraints.
The program, anchored by Firos Koovery, concluded with speeches from the school’s Principal, Rafeeq Rahim, and Operations Manager, Abdul Hameed. The welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by Hamza and Soumya, respectively.
