Awareness Session on Sugar Intake

June 10, 2025:

As part of our ongoing efforts to promote health education among young learners, an enlightening session on sugar intake and its impact on health was organized by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) for students of Grades 1 to 12th conducted in the month of June 2025.
The session was conducted by Ms. Dana AlKudsi, a representative from MoPH, who engaged students with a highly informative and interactive presentation. The primary objective was to enhance students’ understanding of sugar, its various forms, and the adverse health effects of excessive consumption. The session aimed to equip children with the knowledge and practical skills required to make informed dietary choices and adopt healthier eating habits.
Ms. Dana AlKudsi highlighted the link between high sugar intake and health concerns such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and dental problems. She emphasized the importance of reading food labels to identify hidden sugars and encouraged students to choose nutritious alternatives like fruits and balanced meals over sugary snacks and beverages.
Visually engaging displays illustrated the sugar content in commonly consumed foods, making the session both impactful and memorable. The session effectively raised awareness among students about the risks associated with excessive sugar consumption and empowered them to make healthier lifestyle choices.
This initiative not only supported the school’s vision for a health-conscious student community but also fostered critical thinking and self-awareness in young learners regarding their dietary habits.
