Bon Voyage: A Journey of Discovery and Dreams

July 2, 2025:

“Bon Voyage”, a French expression meaning “good journey,” is more than just a farewell — it is a heartfelt wish filled with adventure, curiosity, and transformation. At Shantiniketan Indian School, this spirit came alive through a day -long celebration on the 2nd of July, 2025, that transformed classrooms into spaces of creativity, imagination, and discovery.
Our theme, Bon Voyage: A Journey of Discovery and Dreams, reflected learning as an evolving adventure — where each student is a traveler, each lesson a landmark, and every day a new destination.
Foundational Section: Taking Flight
Our youngest learners in the Foundational Section began their journey with a magical introduction to travel. The Kindergarten section became a miniature airport. With boarding passes in hand, children navigated check-in counters, security checks, and airplane seating. Guided by their teachers, dressed as flight attendants, they experienced the joy of simulated travel. This role-play helped children understand transitions and routines in a fun, memorable way. It encouraged communication, social interaction, and vocabulary development around travel concepts — all while sparking joy and excitement. The wide-eyed curiosity and laughter of these tiny “travelers” made it clear: learning, when playfully presented, truly takes flight.
Primary Section: A Passport to Experiential Learning
In the Primary Section, students engaged in a day-long festival of themes. Each combined with creativity, core academic skills, and exploration. The aim was to celebrate not just what children learn, but how they learn.
Reflections & Memory Book Day
T Students reflected on their school year, capturing cherished memories, friendships, and milestones in personalized memory books. This activity encouraged self-awareness, gratitude, and emotional expression.
My Superhero Day
Creativity soared as children designed their own superhero identities. With handmade capes and character traits, they shared inspiring stories of courage and kindness. The day emphasized imagination, storytelling, and self-belief.
Art Extravaganza Day
Classrooms turned into art studios as students explored painting, collage, and sculpture. The freedom to express through color and texture helped children connect with their emotions and appreciate artistic diversity.
Animal Safari Day
Without leaving the school, students went on a virtual safari. Through games, storytelling, and crafts, they learned about animal habitats and conservation, developing both knowledge and empathy.
Math Mania
Math became a source of fun through logic games, number challenges, and puzzles. These hands-on activities strengthened critical thinking and showed students that math exists beyond the textbook.
Reading Rainbow Day
This literary day celebrated the joy of books. Students engaged in buddy reading, read-alouds, and even crafted bookmarks. Classrooms became cozy reading corners, inspiring a love for reading.
Science Exploration Day
Hands-on STEM experiments made this day a hit. Students built, tested, and observed simple scientific concepts, developing inquiry skills and discovering the magic of “how things work.”
Writing Celebration Day
Students showcased their best poems, stories, and essays. Many created mini storybooks and read their work aloud. This experience boosted confidence in writing and public speaking.
Pirate Adventure Day
The week ended on a high with treasure hunts, pirate maps, and team games. Dressed as young pirates, students solved clues and explored with enthusiasm. The activity encouraged teamwork, communication, and imaginative play.
A Meaningful Farewell
As the Bon Voyage week concluded, it left behind joyful memories, pride in progress, and a strong sense of community. This celebration reminded everyone — students and teachers alike — that education is not just about academics, but about nurturing creativity, curiosity, and confidence.
Each day of the event was thoughtfully designed to blend learning with joy. It allowed students to shine in diverse ways, whether through art, stories, experiments, or play. It also gave teachers a chance to see their students from a different lens — as problem solvers, leaders, dreamers, and explorers.
Bon Voyage, Young Explorers!
As we say Bon Voyage we send off our young voyagers with hearts full of pride and dreams ready to take flight. We celebrate their achievements, creativity, and courage — and look forward to the many journeys ahead.
From all of us at Shantiniketan Indian School, we wish our students continued wonder, discovery, and joy in learning. May every step forward be filled with adventure and purpose.
Bon Voyage!
