Celebrating International Literacy Day 2026

September 8, 2026:

“Reading literacy gives us the power to understand words, ideas and stories. It helps us learn, imagine, communicate and see the world through different perspectives.”

The SIS School Library organized engaging literacy activities for Grades 1–12, inspiring creativity, imagination, self-expression and a love for reading to observe International Literacy Day on 8 September 2026.

Students of Grades 1–2 participated in “Draw Your Favourite Book Character,” creatively illustrating characters from books they enjoyed, while students of Grades 3–5 explored creative writing through “Write About Your Vacation”, “Make a Story About a Recent Celebration”, and “Write a Travelogue”. Students of Grades 6–8 took part in the Story Writing Challenge, “Reading Changes Lives” poster making, Reflection Wall and Book Review Challenge, while Grades 9–12 explored “Literacy for a Better Future” through a presentation and an activity video presented on “Literacy Beyond the Book.”

Grade 6C, under the guidance of Ms. Nimisha, also conducted a meaningful common assembly highlighting the importance of literacy and education.
