May 13, 2026:
The Afternoon Shift of Shantiniketan Indian School celebrated Clean & Green Mission Day through a series of meaningful and engaging activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness among students.
As part of the celebration, KG students enthusiastically participated in planting activities and helped create a small vegetable garden on the school campus. With curiosity and excitement, the children planted saplings and learned the importance of caring for plants and maintaining a green and healthy environment. A short skit presented by the teachers highlighted the significance of planting trees and afforestation, giving the children an opportunity to connect with nature and understand the importance of protecting the Earth.
The event became even more special with inspiring addresses delivered by the respected Principal, Mr. Rafeeq Rahim, Senior Headmaster, Mr. Rafeeque Rahim, and Academic Supervisor, Ms. Sajina Cholayil. They encouraged students to adopt simple eco-friendly practices and reminded everyone that even small actions can contribute towards building a healthier and greener planet.
Adding further value to the programme, students of Grades 1 and 2 participated in a special assembly conducted by Grade 2 – E2 on the theme “Clean and Green Earth.” Through speeches, performances, and presentations, the students shared inspiring messages about planting more trees, reducing waste, and recycling materials for reuse. The assembly also included a heartfelt Green and Clean Pledge, where students promised to protect nature and keep their surroundings clean and eco-friendly.
The Preparatory Section students showcased their creativity through a beautiful leaf art activity, demonstrating how natural materials can be used artistically while spreading awareness about the beauty and importance of nature.
Students of the Middle Section watched an EcoVision documentary that created awareness about environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and the importance of sustainable living practices. The documentary inspired students to understand their role in protecting the environment for future generations.
Students of Grades 9 and 10 actively participated in a Waste Audit Activity, where they studied the different types of waste generated within the school campus and suggested practical methods for effective waste management. The activity helped students develop a deeper understanding of waste segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal practices.
Clean & Green Mission Day proved to be both educational and enjoyable for all the students. The programme successfully created awareness about environmental conservation and inspired young learners to become responsible caretakers of nature, working together towards a greener and brighter future.
