Gandhi Jayanti Celebration 2025

October 2, 2025:

Shantiniketan Indian School joyfully celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. The day served as a profound reminder of Gandhiji’s timeless teachings of truth, peace, and non-violence, inspiring students across all sections to imbibe his values in their lives.

The Kindergarten Section celebrated the occasion with enthusiasm and joy, helping the youngest learners connect with Gandhiji’s legacy in a fun and meaningful way. Teachers organized an engaging and interactive activity inspired by the historic Dandi March, one of the most significant events in India’s freedom struggle.

Children participated in a mini Dandi March around the school premises, carrying small handmade flags and walking peacefully, emulating Gandhiji and his followers. The event provided the little ones with an experiential understanding of standing up for truth and justice through peaceful means while fostering patriotism and unity.

The Department of Social Science, in collaboration with the MDCA Department, proudly organized a special assembly to commemorate the day. The event featured inspiring performances, heartfelt messages, and thought-provoking activities that beautifully reflected Gandhiji’s ideals of truth, non-violence, and peace.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Aimen (10B) and Rahma (10A), followed by a soulful prayer by Fadi Bin Sameer (10B), setting a serene and reflective tone. An insightful speech by Nashiah (10C) and a poem recitation by Maheshwari (10E) paid tribute to Gandhiji’s vision and principles.

A captivating solo dance performance by Trishanaa (10D) artistically depicted Gandhian values, while a student-produced podcast by Zainul (10E), Sahama (10E), Hana (10C), Hamda (10A), Bhagya (9B), and Fathima (9E) explored the relevance of Gandhi’s teachings in contemporary society.

The Junior Choir Group, guided by Ms. Rachna, presented a melodious patriotic song, followed by a flute performance by Aryan (10B) that added a heartfelt touch to the celebration.

The Principal’s address served as a fitting conclusion, urging students to perform one act of kindness as a tribute to Gandhiji’s enduring spirit. The Principal, Vice Principal, Academic Supervisor, HOD of Social Science, and Academic & Activity Coordinator appreciated the students’ creativity and dedication in making the assembly both meaningful and theme-based.

The celebration concluded with a sapling plantation ceremony under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, led by Mr. Usama from the Ministry of Education, along with the school leaders — symbolizing Gandhiji’s love for nature and commitment to sustainable living.
