Homeschooling: An Opportunity for the Deprived to Continue Education

November 23, 2024:

In general perspective, Homeschooling is an educational approach where parents or guardians take primary responsibility for educating their children at home rather than enrolling them in a traditional public or private school. However, while some families were forging ahead with plans and goals successfully, many other families failed to proceed with uninterrupted studies due to various factors: personal and professional, and they are left with no option ahead but to knock on all the possible doors to get their education formalized.
It has to be noted that Qatar Government is upholding a policy that ‘No student in Qatar should be left without education’. Pursuing the same concept, the Management of Shantiniketan Indian School, with the merit of 25 years in educational sector, had been communicating with the authorities in Qatar and India to make it happen. We proudly note that these initiations turned out to be a blessing as that the MoE selected Shantiniketan for the pilot project of Home-Schooling this academic year. Big thanks to the Officials of the Ministry of Education for handholding us in this noble venture.
Today, we are proud to announce that we are launching this project under the title “Homeschooling”- An Opportunity for the Deprived to Continue Education. We are addressing the urgent need to provide educational resources and support to children who have been deprived of learning opportunities. Accordingly, the following categories of students may register their names with this program:

● Students must have completed Grade 6 or 12 years of age.
● There should be a discontinuance of a minimum of one year in studies.
● The students must be residents of Qatar with Indian nationality.
● They must be willing to pursue the CBSE Curriculum.

Strictly in line with the universal concept of Home Schooling, the School will act as a link to formalize the home-bound education to facilitate their further studies but at the same time, the essential supportive prerequisites like registration, Digital Copies of the Textbooks and worksheets, online support of Q&A Sessions in content as well as well-being and on-site examinations. The School may even allow those students to partake in certain competitions and activities depending on the situation. Parents are expected to pay a very nominal fee, standardized by the Ministry of Education for the entire course.
This is not just about providing lessons—it’s about giving hope, fostering resilience, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, no matter what obstacles they face.
