January 4, 2026:
The Staff Professional Development Programme “Makeover 36”, titled “Guiding with Respect, Growing with Grace”, was successfully conducted on Sunday, 4 January 2026. The programme aimed at strengthening positive behavioural practices, fostering emotional intelligence, and reinforcing a respectful school culture among teachers.
The programme commenced with a prayer led by Mr. Luqman Jimoh, followed by the National Anthems, setting a reflective tone for the day. The Vice Principal, Mr. Sujith Kumar, welcomed the gathering, emphasizing respectful guidance, consistency in discipline, and shared responsibility in shaping student behaviour. During this session, newly joined teachers were formally introduced to the staff, helping them integrate into the school community.
The first session on Behavioural Management Systems was led by Mr. Tanveer Mehdi, Head of the Physical Education Department, and Mrs. Faheema Musthafa, School Counsellor, who highlighted practical strategies for managing student behaviour and addressing emotional needs in classrooms.
The next session, “The Language of Respect: How Our Words Shape Student Behaviour”, was conducted by Mrs. Fathima Jumana, Head of the English Department. The session effectively highlighted the impact of teacher language on student attitude, motivation, and behaviour, encouraging mindful communication in daily classroom interactions.
After a short tea break, the session on “Emotional Intelligence and Classroom Empathy” was conducted by Ms. Gowri Shankari, the founder of Qatar Parenting Network (QPN). The session focused on building emotional intelligence and classroom empathy, helping teachers understand why one method does not work for every child and often, not for every adult either.
Following the prayer break, the forenoon session continued with “One School, One Culture: Sustaining Respect and Grace in Thought and Action”, led by Mrs. Kavitha Sivaramakrishnan from the Mathematics Department. The session reinforced the importance of unity, shared values, and consistent practices across the school to sustain a positive institutional culture. A parallel Monthly PD Session for the afternoon staff was conducted by Mr. Rafeeque Ahamed, Senior Headmaster, ensuring inclusive professional development for them.
The programme was well-organized, informative, and impactful. It successfully reinforced the importance of respect, empathy, and collaborative growth, leaving participants motivated and better equipped to foster positive learning environments.
