Teachers of SIS were geared up with the latest in teaching-learning process in Makeover Phase 29 held over 5 days from 20th to 24th of August at its campus.Makeover 29, the Staff Enrichment Programme, carried out at SIS, enriched and equipped all its faculties with the latest in pedagogical developments. The five-day training session enlivened and instilled greater confidence among the teachers to start the session 2023-2024 with greater enthusiasm and more confidence to help all students achieve excellence with innovation.
The teachers were trained in the domains of Interactive Classroom and its Tools by Nazia Saleem (Head Teacher- Middle Section), Bloom’s Taxonomy by Mr. Selvamani Krishnamoorthy (ICT Dept), and Challenges before the new teachers by Mrs. Soumya Mathews (Science Dept), on the first day of the orientation program.
The second day of the orientation began with a session on Video Editing/ Google Sheet by Mrs. Chandrima (MDCA Dept) and Mrs. Bilkees Nisaar (HOD-ICT) which was followed by a panel discussion conducted by the HODs on the topic Empowering Learner to take Control of Learning. The session was moderated by Mr. Wayne Rodrigues (English Dept), post which department wise model classes were presented by the Subject in-charges.
On the third day, a session on Tranquility & Learning was conducted by Dr. Salil Hassan (Senior Vice Principal) followed by a session on Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment by Ms. Bushra PK (Head Teacher- Junior). Mr. Syed Meraj Ali (Head Teacher- Senior Secondary) explained the Roles & Responsibilities during QNSA.
The fourth day commenced with an anecdote of ‘Teamwork to Success’ by Dr. Salil Hassan (Senior Vice Principal) which was highly invigorating and a perfect demonstration of teaching method that stimulate critical and creative thinking among students was delivered by Mr. Syed Meraj Ali (Head Teacher- Senior Secondary) through his session on Competency Based Education. The New Annual Staff Appraisal – Rubrics & Tools was presented by the Management Representative. Subject incharges of all the departments discussed and reviewed Pedagogical Practices and Strategies for improvement.
The final day of Makeover 29 was concluded by the MDCA department through some fun activities, which was followed by the Wellness and Happiness Program where other teachers participated wholeheartedly.
Principal- Mr. Rafeeq Rahim, in his keynote address congratulated all the teachers for making Makeover Phase 29, a grand success. He also expressed his confidence in further improvement of the scholastic and co-scholastic areas of the children in the New Academic Session.
Makeover 29 turned out to be a highly enriching experience for all the teachers in the SIS family. Vice Principal and Head Teachers thanked all the resource persons for their efforts to support and enrich the skills and abilities of the teachers which will surely help the teachers in giving their best to the students in the New Academic Session – 2023-2024.
