‘MAKEOVER-V’ – Education Conference

Teachers of SIS were geared up with the latest in teaching-learning process in Makeover 5 held over two days on 29th and 30th of March at its campus.

Makeover 5, the Staff Enrichment Programme, carried out at SIS, enriched and equipped all its faculty with the latest in pedagogical developments. The two-day training session enlivened and instilled greater confidence among the teachers to start session 2015-2016 with greater enthusiasm and more confidence to help all students achieve excellence with innovation.

The teachers were trained in the domains of Objective Assessment and Evaluation, Incorporation of Skills and Values through classroom teaching, Creative Teaching, the Art of Questioning and Formulating Answers, Designing of Question Papers and the Development of ICT skills among the faculty.

Mr. Shihabudeen Pullath, in his keynote address congratulated all the teachers for their sincerity and hard work in achieving excellent result in the Academic Session 2014-2015. He also expressed his confidence in further improvement of the scholastic and co-scholastic areas of the children in the New Academic Session.

Mr. Tono Fernandez (HOD -Science) discussed various ways in which values and skills can be incorporated through classroom teaching. Mrs. Jisha Pomnarth (HM- Junior) showed all how creative teaching can help students achieve higher level of attention in the class. Mrs. Mehjabeen (HM- KG wing) shared valuable information on class decorum and school so that teachers can maintain a congenial learning environment in the class.

The second day of the orientation began with a session on the Art of Questioning and Formulating Answers. She highlighted some serious repercussion of asking questions in an incorrect manner and usefulness of taking the questions with a proper understanding to be able to formulate appropriate answers. Mr. Meeraj Ali (HOD Commerce) applied a polishing effect to art of preparing a well-designed question paper as per curriculum standards set by the CBSE along with the Answer key, blue print and typology of the question paper.

Towards the end, Mrs. Bilkees and Mrs. Shobhi helped the teachers with some advance level of computing to help them prepare top quality presentations in MS PowerPoint and some Excel reports to maintain the record in a much organized manner.

Makeover 5 turned out to be highly enriching experience for all the teachers in the SIS family. Mr. Dudley Oconnor, Vice Principal, CBSE- i thanked all the resource person for their efforts to support and enrich the skills and abilities of the teachers which will surely help the teachers in giving their best to the students in the New Academic Session – 2015-2016.
