SIS gave a rousing reception to the two leading Indian writers, Mr. M.Mukundan and Mr. PK Parakkadavu. The Malayalam department coordinated the “Meet the Author” session for the students.
The program began with a prayer and Mr. KC Nasir, Malayalam teacher, welcomed the honored dais, Principal, Vice Principal, President, General Secretary and the two Indian writers.
Mr. M. Mukundan, the author of many novels and short stories in Malayalam, in his inaugural address, reminisced his childhood and school days. The author reminded the students of the importance of restoring the perishing values through reading. Mr. PK Parakkadavu, in his speech, spoke about the influence of good books in everyone’s life.
A classical dance recital was performed by Ms. Abhirami, followed by a school choir by students.
Both the writers did paid tribute to the late Nobel Laureate, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and a one minute silence was observed by all as a mark of respect to the great writer.
Mementos were presented to the writers in honor of their literary contribution.
The students interacted with the two eminent writers and the program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Shameem Kavil.
