September 25, 2025:
On Thursday, 25th September, Mrs. Faheema Mustafa, the School Counsellor, conducted Mental Health and Wellbeing sessions for Grades 1 and 2 in collaboration with Mrs. Roshini, the Activity Coordinator, and the Mother Teachers. As per the directives and initiatives launched by CBSE, a list of calendar events has been introduced in our school with month-wise themes. This session was one such event carried out in alignment with the themes prescribed under the CBSE Counselling Hub and Spoke School Model initiative launched in August this year.
For Grade 1, under the theme “All About Myself,” students created posters about their likes and interests, watched a video on individuality, and played an engaging “Passing the Ball” game where they shared their favourites. These activities encouraged children to recognise their uniqueness, express preferences and learn more about their peers in a fun and enjoyable setting.
For Grade 2, the themes “It’s Ok to Ask for Help” and “My Feelings” were explored. Students designed posters, watched a video on the theme “Its ok to Ask for help”, and participated in an adapted action song to express different emotions. A hand-tracing activity helped them identify trusted helpers such as family, friends and the counsellor, reinforcing that it is normal and healthy to ask for help when needed.
As a follow-up, mental wellness themes will continue to be integrated into classroom activities with the counsellor’s support. Students’ work will be displayed to reinforce learning, and regular opportunities will be provided for them to practice expressing feelings and identifying supportive figures in their lives.
