Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world. The celebration of Mother’s Day is related to mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years. In some countries Mother’s Day has become synonymous with older traditions.
8th May, 2014 being “Mothers Day” was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal in CBSE-i wing. The day began brightly with the celebration of Mothers Day celebrated in the Activity Hall from 9.00am to 11.30am.
The whole programme was anchored and coordinated by Mr Donald D’Costa.
The welcome speech was given by the Principal, Dr. Subhash Nair wherein he greeted all the mothers who made an effort to be a part of the programme and also appreciated their spirits , cooperation and understanding. He wished them all luck for future and greeted them to have a good time. The Day started with a prayer which was recited by Mr Shabeer NP and translated by Mrs Afshan – the prayer beautifully described parents kindness to us through our lives and in return we should honor them by reciprocating in the same way.
A beautiful song “Mother of mine” was sung by the CBSE-i choir which was prepared by Mr Derrick Massey . Salma Ahmed of class 5 (A) I presented a beautiful speech on Mothers and described beautifully the love a mother showers on her children and how we must love, respect and value this beautiful relationship.
A dance programme was displayed by class 5 i with the theme of parents support.
A big Surprise awaited the audience with the entry of Teddy the Mascot bringing about “Health is Wealth”. It was appreciated and admired by all.
Mr. Rida gave a speech in Arabic thanking Almighty for sending “Mother” as the symbol of love, care and patience.
Arabic song video based on the love of Mother was shown to the audience.
The guest Doctor a mother herself- Dr. Basma gave guidelines on how health should be taken care of besides that also on nutrition and how important breakfast as a meal is. Some questions were asked by parents.
Fun started with two organized games “Blow the Cups” and “Spot the Paper”. Mrs. Atida M/O Nour (3i) and Mrs.Zeenath M/O Althaf (4i) were declared winners.
A folk dance presented by students of class 4i and 5i directed by Mrs. Ashwathy.
Later the parents took part in an activity – “Spray Paint and Discover” which was displayed later.
In the Sandwich Making and Shwarma Making competition. Mrs.Anuradha, Mrs. Dhan Lakshmi , Mrs. Yeshma and Mr. Dudley O’Connor (Vice Principal CBSE-i) judged the event where Mrs. Ghana Sherif was declared the winner.
Last but not the least parents endorssed a Jumbo Mother’s Card with their precious appreciations.
Gifts to students were distributed to all mothers and their children by Shantiniketan Indian School.
The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Dudley O’Connor. He appreciated all the participants and mothers for being a part of the programme.
