There are a few people around us who enkindle a smile whenever their name is brought up in our conversation. One among them is Dr. Subhash B. Nair, Principal of Shantiniketan Indian School, Doha, who has been selected by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India, for this year’s national award. The award will be given away by the President of India during a ceremony at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on September 5, 2016. Dr. Subhash holds Master of Education (M.Ed.), Master of Science in Life Science Education (M.Sc.Ed), Doctorate in Education Technology (Ph.D.) and also qualified UGC Master’s Level National Education Test (NET) in Education and Life Science.
He has been a committed and passionate teacher for the last 29 years in India and the GCC countries. “His extensive background in different capacities make him uniquely qualified for the challenge of developing students’ talents while also providing them with exemplary academic instructions,” said Shantiniketan Indian School’s founder cum president K C Abdul Latheef.
He leaves a lasting impression on his students, is intuitive and engaging by continuing to add value to meet the needs and motivates children to take up new challenges. “Hundreds of students have benefitted from the outstanding leadership since he joined Shantiniketan Indian School as principal. This is a proud moment for the SIS fraternity in its journey forever improving achievements and excellence.” Abdul Latheef added.
Dr. Subhash, with an ever growing quench for learning, regularly attends the teaching –learning forum organized by the Qatar Foundation and many international conferences on school education. He has successfully completed three courses on leadership from HEC, Paris, through Coursera in 2015 and a course on Meta-learning from US San Diego with distinction through Coursera in 2014. He has also been qualified as a CBSE peer assessor in 2014. Toastmasters International has awarded on him Competent Leader and Advanced Communicator (Silver) in 2008.
During his stint at SIS, Subhash has led his team to carefully develop an Academic Achievement Enhancement Programme and different set of instructions to suit individual child. The e-learning portal created for SIS is fast growing as a highly useful learning resource for CBSE students all over the world. He has also developed a teachers’ training portal for SIS that help teachers to update their professional skills. Under his continuous guidance, students of class XII became toppers in Qatar for the academic year 2015-2016.
The award is a recognition of selfless service by Dr. Subhash as a teacher and an educational leader that inspires him and his colleagues to continue with excellence to transform schools into safe learning environment for children while enjoying the learning experience.
