March 12, 2026:
Considering the current regional uncertainties and ongoing developments, awareness sessions titled “Big Feelings, Small Steps to Calm” for Grade VI and “Finding Your Calm Within the Storm” for Grades VII and VIII were conducted on 12 March 2026 for students of Grades 6, 7, and 8 through the virtual platform. These sessions were organized under the guidance of Academic Supervisor, Ms. Nazia Saleem (Middle Section) and facilitated by Ms. Faheema Mustafa, School Counsellor.
The session focused on helping students understand how the brain responds to stress, particularly the role of the amygdala and the fight–flight–freeze response during challenging situations. Students were introduced to practical strategies to manage overwhelming emotions through healthy coping practices such as deep breathing, grounding techniques, maintaining daily routines, engaging in physical and creative activities, and seeking support from trusted adults.
The importance of avoiding unhealthy coping habits such as excessive sleeping, prolonged screen time, overuse of social media, excessive gaming, binge watching television, and disruption of daily routines was also highlighted, encouraging students to replace these with positive habits that support emotional well-being.
Students were also given a few indicators to help them recognize when they may need additional professional support and were encouraged to reach out to trusted adults or the school counselling department whenever needed.
