“Tiny tots dance to the rhythm of phonetic notes…!!!”
Phonic Dance activity was conducted by the Pre Primary section of SIS on 20th April 2017. The little ones participated in the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. It was a day filled with learning, play and ofcourse dance…”Phonic Dance”
The children reviewed the alphabet as part of Phonics Dance through letter names, letter sounds and word associations through chanting and moving to the alphabet! They were given head bands with alphabets and pictures to help them identify and connect with the sound.
The ‘Phonic Dance’ proved to be a quick and easy way to teach phonics and enhance the reading and writing skills of each and every student in our classrooms. It was multilevel learning at its best – helpful for all students regardless of their developmental level.
There was a frenzy of activity as the students were involved online phonic games, I Spy type games and matching objects with the same sound to focus on the initial sound of words. Activities were also done to distinguish between different oral sounds and to begin oral blending and segmenting.
In a nutshell, this endeavour helped to make learning phonics fun. It further reinforced different skills like listening, pronunciation, speaking and reading there by encouraging them to experience the wonder and joy of reading books which would lead to the development of literacy.
