More than five hundred athletes of Shantiniketan Indian School competed for top honours in its 19th Annual Sports Day held at Al-Arabi Sports Club. It was a day filled with fervour and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. Students participated in different track and field events in which Yellow House emerged as the overall Champions.
Mr. K. C. Abdul Latheef, President of the Managing Committee of SIS, was the Chief Guest at the event. General Secretary, Mr. Abdul Kader graced the occasion with his benign presence as the Guest of Honor.
An energizing Aerobic drill by the intermediate girls and the colourful and rhythmic parade by the Scouts and Guides as well as students, set the tone of the event that saw some close finishes and outstanding performances. Jannah Hany Shaker (Kiddies girls), Mohammad Talib (Kiddies boys), Aisha Noor (Mini Junior girls), Giftson (Mini Junior boys), Noor Mohamad (Sub Junior girls), Hamdan Shameer (Sub Junior boys), Trisica Mahima (Junior girls), Talha bin Jassim (Junior boys), Fathima Zahra (Intermediate girls), Llance George (Intermediate boys), Noofa Mustafa (Pre-Senior Girls), Walliullah Ashfaque (Pre-Senior boys), Nafla P.V. (Senior girls) and Criton George (Senior Boys) were declared individual champions in their respective categories.
It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories for all the participants. The Principal, Dr. Subhash Nair, appreciated the sportsmanship spirit of the students as well as teachers and parents who also participated in special events organized for them.
