Shantiniketan Indian School celebrated the 74th Independence Day of India with great patriotism and fervor. A short cultural program was organized online using the ZOOM Platform and streamed Live on Youtube.
Early in the morning the National Flag was hoisted in School by the Management Committee Member – Mr. Sahanas Noorudheen ensuring social distancing and the prescribed safety norms
President of the School Management Committee – Mr. K. C. Abdul Latheef sent out a unifying message highlighting the fundamental common values of justice, equality, freedom and fraternity shared between India and the State of Qatar. He also added that the fundamental value of Truth – in Arabic Haqq, is also seen in the cultural heritage of both countries as well as in the divine scriptures. He also welcomed the New Indian Ambassador – His Excellency – Dr. Deepak Mittal, to Qatar, who shared expressions of indebtedness towards HH the Ameer of state of Qatar Sh. Thameem bin Hamad Althani, the government and people of Qatar for their continuous care and support to the Indian community in Qatar. He also referred to the words shared by previous ambassador Mr. P Kumaran, during his farewell – “if we are united irrespective of the different kinds of varieties we have, we can face any challenge in the future, even the Covid.”
Principal – Dr. Subhash B. Nair while congratulating the students for their excellent performance and advised the students to be prepared for the transformational changes in the Education system that can make them successful leaders at national and global level.
Students spread an air of patriotism and nationalism through songs and dances. The students recreated the major events leading to the Independence of India through art which was presented during the program. Narmin Abdulla (IX) delivered an inspiring speech reminiscing the ideals and values laid down by the freedom fighters. Mr. Shakir Hussain (HOD – Social Science) sent out a message highlighting the importance of teachers in moulding youths as responsible citizens and developing future national and global leaders. The students through their roleplay reflected on the visions of the great nationalist leaders who paved the way for Indian Independence. The entire SIS family congratulated the students, for organizing a wonderful and memorable Independence Day program.
