SIS celebrates Earth Day in a Big Way

It was a memorable day for the students and teachers, as they celebrated the Earth Day with two big events during and after its school hours.

Celebrating 22nd April, as the Earth Day, the Eco Club hosted a seminar on the importance of preserving the environment. Participating in the celebration on the School premises, Dignitaries from the Doha Bank, addressed the students on the occasion and promised full support and co-operation to school students in their effort to create awareness among the people in Qatar.

Later in the day, the students visited the Wakra Family Beach for a Beach cleaning activity organised collaboratively by the Social Science Department, the Scouts and Guides as well as the CBSE(i) Wing of Shantiniketan Indian School.

During the course of the activity, the concerned young minds of SIS spoke to the visitors to create awareness on the needs to protect the environment. Demonstrating their concerns and the need to maintain cleanliness on the beach, the students with the help of teachers and support of the Municipal Authority, gathered a huge amount of plastic bags and rugs dumped on the beach.

Present on the occasion was the Vice Principal (admin) – Mr. Shihabudeen Pulath, who appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers and motivated them to continue their efforts towards maintain a clean and healthy environment for the protection and well beings of generations to come.
