January 12, 2025:
Shantiniketan Indian School successfully hosted the Numerothon – An exciting Fusion of Math and sports aimed at blending fun, fitness and learning. The event was designed by the Department of Mathematics of SIS as a fun filled and competitive event providing a wonderful opportunity for the young ones to engage in various challenges integrating Math and Sports.
The event was inaugurated with an inspiring welcome note by Ms Shafiya who extended a warm greeting to the audience. President of SIS, Mr. Rasheed Ahmed, Principal Mr. Rafeeq Rahim, Academic Supervisor, Mrs.Mehjabeen Hasan , and Head of the Mathematics Department, Ms. Shamsiya Suhaibu graced the occasion with their significant presence.
Math Magicians, Math Innovators, Math Jugglers, Math Masters and Math Guru were the five teams formed comprising the participants of grade 1 and 2 to compete in the games . The competition consisted of three challenging rounds. Running Race –Addition – An additional twist combining the both excitement of running and math. It was anchored by Ms Jasmine. Spin the bottle Subtraction : An entertaining subtraction challenge was mastered by Ms Syanthi. Frame a question: Challenge of Creating questions for a mathematical concept was the task assigned for the top three teams in the final round of the competition and it was anchored by Ms.Manahal.
Math Innovators was named as the champions for their exceptional performance and the team- Math Guru and Math Magicians secured the runner-up and second runner-up positions respectively. The event concluded with an award ceremony, where certificates were distributed by President Mr. Rasheed Ahamed and Principal Mr. Rafeeq Rahim to the winners and runner-ups.
