SIS Inaugurates Math Club

 

Shantiniketan Indian School inaugurated Math Club recently in a function held in the school auditorium, opening the pavement to various mathematical activities.

The club was formed mainly to help make the study of Mathematics more easy and appealing to students.  This club is made up of students who gained top marks in mathematics.  The objectivity of the Math Club is to bring together students’ interest in the ‘beauty’ and the ‘mystery’ of Mathematics. It proposes to undertake projects to develop analytical thinking and logical reasoning among the students. It would also serve as a platform to exchange creative ideas in the field and propagate various mathematical applications among the students, school sources said.

The event witnessed a documentation on ‘Contributions of Mathematicians by Asfandyar Khan of class XII which widely attracted everyone’s attention. Another attraction of the day was a PowerPoint presentation on ‘Amazing Facts of Math’ done by Naveen of class X. ‘Junior Mathematicians’ of SIS also displayed their immense taste in Math, displaying placards on various aspects of mathematics.

The faculty members of the Math Department and top scorers were recognized with awards of excellence and awards for hundred percent achievement.

Dr. Subhash Nair, Principal, inaugurated the Math Club.  Addressing the students Dr Subash Nair stressed the importance of mathematics in day today life. He briefed the participants about the life of Ramanujam and his achievements and motivated the students to be passionate about whatever they do in life. He aslo encouraged the students to develop their core competence and advised them to be proactive in all situations.

Mrs. Prabha Saji, HOD-Department of Mathematics welcomed the gathering and Anju Tiwari, Math teacher proposed the vote of thanks.
