SIS Organizes Professional Development Programme for Teachers

Shantiniketan Indian School organized a five-day intensive Professional Development Programme for teachers in preparation of the new term after summer vacation. Principal, Dr. Subhash Nair, welcomed the teachers back and lead the team with ‘The Challenges that today’s Teachers face.’ Teachers had a hands on training on Microsoft Excel, digital tools and graphic images conducted by the ICT department lead by Mr. SyamKrishna, Mrs. Bilkees Nisar, Mrs. Shobi Stephen and Mrs. Mukta Chaturvedi.

Mr. Donald D’Costa and Mr. Wilson Roystin enlightened the teachers on Multilingual Inclusive Practices and Collaborative Learning Strategies. Senior Vice Principal, Mr. Shihabudeen Pulath, reminded the teachers about their influence on children through his presentation on ‘Influential Teachers.’ Ms. Vasavi Ayyanan and Mr. Austin Solomon enriched teachers on ‘various aspects of  English Communication’ while Vice Principal and Staff Professional Development Coordinator, Mr. Dudley O’Connor, delivered a vibrant presentation on ‘Etiquettes in Communication’ which included areas of Qualities of a Good Communicator, Pleasantries, Smart talk and Sensitivity versus Sensibility.

Principal’s Award on ‘Innovation in Teaching Strategies’ was awarded to Mr. Donald D’Costa for the Academic year 2017-18.

The School Management gifted the teachers on the Teachers Day with an educational tool EduBrisk, a dynamic learning platform to help students, teachers and parents celebrate knowledge. Mr. Saiju Arvind, CEO of EduBrisk, conducted a training session on this platform to bring about a paradigm shift in the teaching strategies of SIS.
