On October 17, 2024, the Middle Section of Shantiniketan Indian School hosted an exciting Spell Bee competition, featuring enthusiastic participation from students of Grades 6, 7, and 8. The event aimed to foster a love for language and challenge students’ spelling abilities while enhancing their vocabulary and confidence.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by Afroz Aman, setting a positive tone for the event. The program was skillfully led by Zobia and Muzna both students of grade 8, who ensured the smooth flow of the event with their confident and capable hosting.
The competition consisted of three rigorous rounds, testing the spelling prowess of the participants. After each round, the difficulty level increased, pushing the contestants to demonstrate their proficiency under pressure.
We were honored to have three esteemed parents serve as judges for the event: Mrs. Muhsina Salman, Mrs. Aneesha Musthafa and Mrs. Aqsa Salim. Their fair and insightful judgment helped ensure a smooth and transparent competition. The event’s Pronouncer was Mrs. Fathima Jumana, Head of the English Department, who skillfully guided the participants through the competition, ensuring clarity and precision in each round.
Winners and runners-up were chosen from each grade after the final round:
Grade 6: Winner-Anandhakrishna M.S (6A), Runner-up- Rayna.A (6A) & Nihara.M (6B)
Grade 7: Winner-Hamdan Jabid (7E), Runner-up-Gokul Krishna (7C)
Grade 8: Winner- Zeba Nawal (8C), Runner-up –Jessica Jackson (8C)
The event concluded with heartfelt words of appreciation and encouragement from the judges. The Academic Supervisor, Mrs. Nazia Saleem inspired students to strive for proficiency in the language. The organizing team, spearheaded by Mrs. Fathima Rizna and Activity Coordinator Mrs. Soumya Mathew, received well-deserved applause for their efforts. Principal, Mr. Rafeeq Rahim commended both the participants for their outstanding performances and the organizing team for their meticulous planning. He praised the event as a valuable initiative for enhancing students’ language skills and emphasized the significance of such competitions in fostering academic excellence.
Overall, the Spell Bee competition was a grand success, providing students with an engaging platform to showcase their talents and reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic development.
