Shantiniketan Indian School organized its Inter-house debate competition SIS CHAIRMAN’S POLEMIC CHALLENGE – 2021” recently. Eight students from 4 houses contested with each other and debated on the topic “School Examinations should be Redesigned to be Online During the Pandemic and Beyond”. The debate competition was conducted remotely on the Virtual ZOOM Platform.
The debate was very professionally moderated by Safa Sadique Basha of Grade XI. The students debated on a topic that is so relevant and close to their academic development. Mr. Shyam Sundar, Mrs. Durga Mavuru and Mrs. Vijay Lata Aurora formed the distinguished panel of judges. They were extremely happy with the opinions shared and points argued upon by the contestants leaving the audience with a lot of takeaways and the institutions to think and work upon strategies to redesign the ways in which examinations can be conducted moving forward post pandemic.
Sahla Muneer of Class IX A emerged as the best debater, Shourya Pratap Bisht of Class XII A was the second Runner Up and also awarded for the Best Rebuttal. Naren Sanjay of Class IX B got the award for the Second Runner Up. Green house was declared as the best team. Mr. Dudley O’Connor congratulated all the winners and expressed happiness in the way the students debated on the topic which will pave the way to some reconsideration in the examination process.
