September 23, 2025:
In light of promoting empathy, global awareness, and peace, students from Grades 3 to 5 of Preparatory Section under the guidance of Mr. Wayne Rodrigues, in collaboration with the Activity Coordinator, Ms. Nazia Tahseen along with their team of teachers participated in a series of educational and creative activities themed “Solidarity with Palestine.”
Grade 3 Activity: “Messages of Kindness”
To encourage empathy and kindness through simple, heartfelt messages and drawings. Students were given half-sheets of paper and markers to write or illustrate messages of peace and kindness. Some of the messages included: “Peace for all kids”, “We care about others” and “Be kind always”. Each student created a unique message, combining text and simple illustrations to spread a message of hope and unity. Using markers and half-sheets of paper (A3 size). The messages were displayed in a colorful poster collage on the classroom bulletin board under the title “Messages of Kindness for Palestine.” This activity encouraged compassion and gave students a voice to express their support for others.
Grade 5 Activity: “Feelings Freeze” – A Mini-Drama Session
To explore empathy and emotions through drama and movement.
- Feelings Freeze Game:
The teacher called out different emotions related to the theme (e.g., hope, sadness, courage, love), and students had to instantly freeze in a pose that represented the emotion. - Optional Role-Play:
Some students volunteered to act out short scenes about helping a friend in need, sharing, or standing up for someone who is sad. These small acts reflected kindness and solidarity.
This activity helped students understand emotional expression and built a sense of empathy. It also provided a platform to talk about feelings in a safe and creative way. To conclude, each activity was developmentally appropriate and encouraged students to think beyond themselves, fostering a sense of global citizenship and human connection.
