On Tuesday, 3rd September 2024, the Counselling and Career Guidance Department at Shantiniketan Indian School organized a guest speaker seminar at the MPH for Grade XI and XII students. The seminar featured Dr. Aboobacker V.M., a renowned oceanographer and Research Associate Professor at Qatar University.
Dr. Aboobacker provided valuable insights into two critical topics: building a career in scientific research and the implications of climate change in the Gulf region. He emphasized the importance of a strong foundation in core scientific subjects, selecting the right university, and gaining hands-on experience through internships and research.
He also discussed the alarming effects of climate change in the Gulf, such as rising sea levels and higher temperatures, urging students to consider their role in addressing global challenges.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students explored topics related to oceanography, climate research, and career opportunities. The seminar inspired students to pursue careers in science and contribute to solving global issues.
