Vigilance Awareness Week

The Social Science Department of SIS organized various activities in the Indian context during the Vigilance Awareness Week reflecting the theme ““Combating Corruption – Technology as an enabler”.

Adv. Rayees Kochery and Dr. Nizar Kochery of Kocheries Legal Consultants LLP, enriched the knowledge of our students of Grade IX and X students with their lecture on ‘How e-judiciary, that helped in making court proceedings more transparent’. It was a highly interactive session where the students raised their concern about the judicial system of India, the efficacy of the e-judiciary in the removal of corruption in the judicial system and the ways in which it can bring transparency.

To help students fight against corruption and ideate ways through which it can be eradicated, the students from classes VI to X competed in Slogan Writing Contest and Debate and also attended a seminar conducted by an eminent speaker. The Students of Class VI came up with some catchy slogans based on the topic ‘Root out Corruption before it roots in you’ and filled their Class Bulletin Boards evoking a strong sense against corruption in India.

Students of Classes VII and VIII debated on the topic “e-ticketing has been effective in reducing corruption in India”. It was a close contest with young debaters putting forth their arguments for and against the topic. The rebuttal session during the debate turned out to be very exciting and Rasha Sidhik of VII E emerged as the best speaker. Sharlet Feba Thomas (VIII F) and Sahal Muneer (VII C) were in the second position and Tamim Muhammed (VII D) took the third position.

Principal, Dr. Subhash B. Nair congratulated the winners and gave them valuable tips to enhance their debating skills that could help every student to express their thoughts in a clear and confident manner.

The Head of the Department, Social Science, Mr. Shakir Hussain, expressed his thanks to the school Management, teachers and the Students for their active participation in the weeklong event that created Awareness to Combat Corruption and Technology as an enabler.
