World Cancer Prevention Day Observance – Foundational and Middle Section

February 8, 2026:

World Cancer Prevention Day was meaningfully observed on 8th February in both the Foundational and Middle Sections of the school. Grade 1 and Grade 2 students participated enthusiastically in interactive sessions promoting healthy eating habits. Through colourful visuals and simple explanations, they explored the major food groups—fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy—and learned about the benefits of “eating the rainbow.” The interdisciplinary programme integrated Science, Health Education, Mathematics, and Language, with activities that included grouping, counting, discussions, vocabulary building, and sharing healthy recipes. Students also spoke about their favourite nutritious meals and will complete a research-based worksheet at home to track their daily food groups.

In the Middle Section, Grade 7 students attended an awareness session led by an official from the Ministry of Public Health, focusing on cancer risk factors, early detection, and the importance of balanced nutrition, physical activity, and avoiding tobacco. Interactive quizzes, discussions, and presentations made the session engaging and impactful.
