World Environment Day Celebration 2026 (AN)

June 5, 2026:

The Departments of Science, Social Science, and Art successfully organized a series of activities to commemorate World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 at Shantiniketan Indian School, Doha (Afternoon Session).

Grades 1 and 2 celebrated World Environment Day through engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promoted environmental awareness and sustainability. Students explored the concept of “Best Out of Waste,” learned about the benefits of composting, identified eco-friendly and biodegradable materials, and understood their role in reducing pollution and supporting soil health. The celebration also included environmental vocabulary activities and seed identification exercises, helping children make meaningful connections between plants, soil, and sustainable living in an enjoyable and educational manner.

Students of Grades 3 to 5 actively participated in various activities, including the Environment Day Pledge, Poster Making, Nature Walk, and Plant Sapling Plantation. These activities helped promote environmental awareness, responsibility, and appreciation for nature among young learners.

Eco Parliament – Young Minds for a Greener Future was organized by the Social Science Department for Grades 6 to 8. Students participated as parliamentary leaders and citizens, engaging in discussions and debates on environmental issues while exploring sustainable solutions. The programme encouraged environmental awareness, leadership, and responsible decision-making.
Adding a creative dimension to the celebration, Grade 6 students collaboratively created a Big Canvas Painting titled “Our Green Future – Tree of Hope,” highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and inspiring collective action for a greener planet.

The World Environment Day celebrations provided students with valuable opportunities to develop environmental consciousness, leadership skills, creativity, and a sense of responsibility towards protecting the Earth for future generations.
