October 10, 2024:
In celebration of World Mental Health Day on October 10th, Shantiniketan Indian School held a week-long event, focusing on the theme, “Let’s Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.” Organized by the Psychology and Counselling Department, the initiative aimed to foster open dialogue on mental health across all school sections.
Each stage participated in age-appropriate activities. The Foundation Section engaged in expressive exercises like gratitude jars, feelings circles, and relaxation techniques. The Preparatory Stage conducted workshops, gratitude and suggestion boxes, and a poster-making competition. Middle school students created awareness posters, participated in a mental health-themed movie screening, and attended a session by Dr. Rani Susan Abraham on managing stress. Senior Secondary students took part in initiatives like the “Voice Vault,” gratitude jars, and the screening of the student-directed film “Screams of Silence”.
Teachers attended a self-care workshop, while parents participated in a session on positive parenting. The event was widely appreciated, creating a supportive atmosphere for mental well-being across the school community.
